Champ duo in for Celtic winger

Latest from Your Site News' Anthony Joseph:

Birmingham City and Norwich City have renewed their interest in Celtic winger Hyun-jun Yang.

Its understood Preston North End are also keen admirers of the South Korea international.

The 23-year-old was close to joining Birmingham for 3m on transfer deadline day in September. Yang was in the city ready to complete the move, but the Championship felt they had to move on to other targets after waiting on Celtic to sanction the deal.

Yang has been featuring for Celtic more often since Brendan Rodgers left the club in October. He scored in Celtics 3-1 Europa League win at Feyenoord.

'Neves wants PL return putting Man Utd and Newcastle on alert'

Ruben Neves wants to return to the Premier Legaue in the January transfer window which has put Manchester United and Newcastle United on alert, according to The Times.

The former Wolves midfielder has reportedly turned down the offer of a new contract at Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. His current deal is set to expire at the end of this season.

Al Hilal are resigned to losing the Portugal international and hoping to bring his exit forward by six months to recoup some of the 47m they paid Wolves to sign him, the report claims.

The Saudi club are reportedly asking for around 18m for Neves, who will be free at the end of the season, but buying sides are unlikely to pay so much given his situation.

What is the possibility that Maresca could replace Pep at Man City?

Your Site News' Kaveh Solhekol explains the reports that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca could replace Pep Guardiola at Man City at the end of the season:

"The background to this is Enzo Maresca coming out on Saturday evening and saying he felt many people were not supporting him.

"That has led to question marks about his long-term future at Chelsea.

"Also, just a few months ago, Enzo Maresca moved agents. He is now represented by Jorge Mendes, who is one of the most powerful agents in the world.

"Of course, one day there is the possibility that Pep Guardiola will leave Man City but he has a contract there until 2027.

"If we are getting into the realm of hypotheticals, if you ask me the question that one day, if Pep leaves City, would Maresca be one of the candidates to take over?

"Hypothetically, I would say yes, I think Maresca would because he's done a pretty good job at Chelsea. He's got connections at Man City having worked there previously under Pep and managed the U23 team.

"Also, Jorge Mendes has a very close relationship with the sporting director at City now as well.

"There are a lot of reasons why you could think that this would make sense, but the main reason why I would say to you today that it is not a possibility at the moment is because City have a manager, his name is Pep Guardiola and he has a contract until the summer of 2027.

"Also, Maresca has a job at Chelsea until 2029."

'Spurs open to selling Johnson amid growing PL interest'

Tottenham are open to letting forward Brennan Johnson leave should they receive a suitable offer, according to BBC Sport.

It is claimed that there is growing Premier League interest in the Wales international, although Spurs are not actively looking to sell him.

The report says Crystal Palace are the club most advanced in their interest for the 24-year-old, but other teams are monitoring his situation closely.

Johnson's reported uncertain future comes nearly seven months after his match-winning goal in Tottenham's Europa League final win over Manchester United, while he was the club's top scorer in the Premier League last season with 11 goals.

Johnson has struggled for game time under Thomas Frank, making just six league starts.

Tottenham signed Johnson in the summer of 2023 from Nottingham Forest in a 47.5m deal.

West Ham confirm Skinner departure

West Ham have confirmed head coach Rehanne Skinner has left the club with immediate effect.

The 46-year-old had been in charge of the Hammers since July 2023.

Skinner's side lost their first seven games of the season, but had picked up five points from the last four games.

They are currently 11th in the WSL table, two points above bottom side Liverpool, who they drew 2-2 with last weekend.

Andrews: Brentford will only do January business if it's right

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews:

"Naturally, when you come towards a transfer window, regardless of which one it is, you always want to strengthen the squad.

"How we do that is down to the people at the club that run that side of it.

"We'll work collaboratively and try to strengthen and tweak the squad in a way where we see will benefit us.

"But, equally, if it's not right, we won't do it."

'I don't see him at Chelsea next season' - Carra explains bold Maresca prediction

Speaking on Monday Night Football this week Your Site pundit Jamie Carragher said he didn't expect Enzo Maresca to be Chelsea manager next season due to recent comments the head coach has made.

However, he did also say Maresca has shown he can compete with top coaches tactically during his time in charge at Chelsea.

Maresca 'among candidates to replace Guardiola'

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is among the candidates being considered by Man City to succeed Pep Guardiola, should he leave the club in the summer, according to The Athletic.

Guardiola's current deal with City runs until 2027 but it is being reported the club are making contingency plans for when the six-time Premier League champion decides to step away.

Maresca was one of Guardiola's assistant managers during their treble-winning 2022-23 season before going on to win the Championship with Leicester and two trophies with Chelsea as a head coach himself.

Carragher predicts Maresca future

Jamie Carragher said on Monday Night Football that Maresca has created a "big problem" with his recent cryptic comments and that he didn't expect him at Chelsea next season.

Maresca sparked confusion last Saturday when he said the two days leading into the win against Everton had been since he arrived at the club last summer, but he refused to elaborate why.

It fuelled speculation that he was taking aim at the club's owners and sporting directors and Carragher feels there is usually only one outcome from these situations.

"I don't think Maresca's manager at Chelsea next season," said Carragher. "When you come out and speak about your ownership like that and you speak in public, that's a big problem.

"And it's not uncertain [who he is speaking about], he's speaking about the owner and the sporting directors.

"I think this is a classic case that we see at a lot of clubs now where you have a head coach, not a manager, and sporting directors.

"What you get is the coach comes initially and agrees to the terms and conditions, but then he feels like he's done a really good job, and he's done a great job getting Champions League football last season, winning a European competition and winning the Club World Cup.

"Slowly, the manager feels like he should get more power. He'll be really disappointed that Chelsea didn't go and get a centre-back in the summer when Levi Colwill got a big injury.

"So in the last few weeks the results have just turned on Maresca a little bit. He's calling something out and wants something in the public, which I do not agree with.

"We spoke about Mo Salah last week. This is not as extreme, but it is a similar sort of situation. I don't like people going public, whether it is a manager or a player. You sort it in-house.

"But the problem for Maresca is if he continues like this, there will only be one winner, and it's not him."

Guilherme wants to fight for West Ham place

Latest from Your Site News' Chris Reidy:

Luis Guilherme wants to stay at West Ham and fight for his position, Your Site News understands.

There have been reports ahead of the January window that Guilherme could be set to leave.

The 19-year-old winger has made five appearances this season, three coming under Nuno Espirito Santo, but has not been included in West Hams last three matchday squads.

He signed for West Ham in June 2024 for 25m.

West Ham are interested in Fulham's Adama Traore with a new winger being one of their priorities in the window.
